Beautiful place, would be a great place to camp except the Gov. hasn't opened it back up for camping. I don't know if it is budget problems or what but would love to go back with my camper next year. The nearest camp ground was quite a distance and most of the camp sites there were not open either. I know there were problems with flooding in the past but post notices, put up a siren when there is a threat or even close it when there is a credible threat, but let us use it when it is safe.

Really like this area, but with NO CAMPING over night it's not worth it to travel much at all anymore. I understand that the flooding killed people but why punish the survivors?

The flood didn't occur at Lowery's Cabins. The flood only occurred on the government-owned campsites. The cabins were not damaged, and NO ONE staying at Lowery's Camp Albert Pike Cabins were hurt. This family-owned small business is still open for overnight stays. You can fish, swim, hike, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet during your stay.
